Caribbean Cruise 2026

We usually try to escape from the cold weather, for a couple of weeks, during the UK’s winter and this year was no exception. We hadn’t been to the Caribbean since Covid and so we booked ourselves on a P&O Cruise around the islands, taking in, Barbados, Bonaire, Curacao, Aruba, St Vincent and St Lucia. Most of our holidays consist of seeing and exploring various places, involving driving great distances and moving on every two or three days. So it is nice to take on a cruise, relax and let someone else take the decisions. For two weeks I’m happy just to decide whether to have tea or coffee with my breakfast, or wine or beer with dinner. It’s also nice to be able to unpack, instead of living out of a suitcase.

Cruising isn’t especially good for photography as it’s difficult to get away from the tourist areas around the port, but I do take a camera and following are some ‘snaps’ I took on this trip. All these were with a Leica M11-P with 28, 35, 50 and 75mm lenses.

All the above were taken on the island of Bonaire on the 12th January, 2026

The above were taken in Curacao on the 13th January, 2026

All the above taken on the island of Aruba on the 14th January, 2026

The above were taken in Kingstown, on the island of St Vincent, on the 16th January, 2026. I didn’t find St Vincent interesting and so concentrated on doing some street photography.

Above, a couple of photo’s taken in St Lucia.

Above, taken in St Maartin on the 20th January, 2026

The above were taken on Antigue on the 21st January, 2026

The above were taken on our return to Barbados on the 23rd January, 2026
