Having really enjoyed my first visit to a Steampunk Event in Bressingham (see below), a photographer friend and myself decided to have a ride to Lincoln and attend what we understood to be the largest Steampunk Festival in the world. It certainly didn’t disappoint, for as well as the characters from the UK there were many who had travelled from overseas. Everyone was extremely friendly and I definitely intend to visit future gatherings.
For the technically inclined, all the images below were taken with the Leica SL2 camera and 50mm APO SL Summicron lens.
Wednesday, 17th August 2022 – just playing around with a couple of images I took at the Steampunk meeting, at Bressingham Steam Museum back in July.
Sunday, 3 July 2022
I had never heard of Steampunk but saw a posting on Facebook advising that a gathering was to be held at Bressingham Steam Museum in Norfolk. The images included in the posting seemed interesting and not having anything to do on this particular Sunday, decided to go along with my wife and a couple of photographer friends.
We really enjoyed the day as everyone was so friendly and more than happy to have their photograph taken. I intend to visit additional gatherings and will add to this section of the website when opportunity arises.
Below is Wikipedia’s definition of Steampunk which explains it far better than I could: –
Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction that incorporates retrofuturistic technology and aesthetics inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery. Steampunk works are often set in an alterative history of the Victorian era or the American “Wild West”, where steam power remains in mainstream use, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power.
