As usual, the Leica One Challenge was held on the second Saturday in October and this year it it was Nice in France which hosted the event, this location being selected by the members who attended last years challenge in Dubrovnik.
We decided to drive down to the south of France, taking our time and staying off the major toll highways.

This first set of images were taken on the drive south, via Chalons-en-Champagne, Chalon-sur-Saone, Chambery, Briancon and Digne-les-Baines.
The photo’s below are just general pictures of Nice
The actual Challenge is based on the film days, were each photographer is allowed to take up to 36 images in two hours, having previously declared the camera to be used, together with the focal length of the lens and the ISO value. One photograph is then submitted to the Leica Forum by each photographer and the worldwide membership then votes for the best image.
Below are some of pictures I took within the two hour timeframe of the Challenge.
Below is the image, “Nice Bums in Nice”, I chose to submit as my entry. I was quite pleased to achieve joint forth in the voting
Below are general images I took on the journey, north, back to Calais, via Hyeres, Salon-de-Provence, Le Puy en Velay, Bourges, Chartres and Val de Reuil
As always, we thoroughly enjoyed the event, as it’s great to meet up annually with friends old and new, who have a common interest in Leica cameras.
It is usual for us to vote on the city for next year’s Challenge, during dinner on the Saturday evening, with Palma de Mallorca being selected for 2025.
