Saturday, 29 March 2025: a photographer friend and myself went to watch Old Leysians play Old Perseans at Cambridge rugby club. I took the Leica SL2 with the 90-280mm Vario-Elmarit and a Nikon D810 complete with a Sigma 150-600mm Zoom lens and below are a couple of images. This was the first time I’d tried to photograph rugby and found it more difficult than football as the ball is often obscured by the player; still good fun though.
Sunday, 16 March 2025: absolutely thrilled and delighted that my image “Winter In Yosemite” (below) won the best pint in the East Anglia Federation of Photography’s annual print championship.
The image was taken with a Leica SL (type 601) camera with the 16-35mm Vario-Elmarit lens.
Monday, 10 March 2025: along with three other photographer friends, I visited the Photo Show held at London’s Excel venue. In previous years the annual show had been held at the NEC in Birmingham, but we found London to be a better location.
The images below were taken on various trade stands, all with the Leica M11-P and 35mm F1.4 Summilux lens.
Tuesday, 25 February 2025: images taken at the Nene Valley Railway with the Leica SL2 and 24-90mm Vario-Elmarit lens.
Monday, 17 February 2025: looking back through some old images I decided to make a print of this one. It is of Emerald Bay, part of Lake Tahoe, taken back in February 2007, using a Nikon D2x with a 70-200 mm Nikon Zoom lens. I used to spend time in Reno at an Aviation Training School and the owner, a good friend of mine had a Cessna aircraft. Knowing I loved Yosemite National Park he offered to fly me there and this was an image I took on the way.
Wednesday, 19th February 2025: Despite the cold, overcast weather I decided to have a ride to King’s Lynn. Being grey and miserable it wasn’t good for photography and so took the Leica M10 Monochrom and 35mm Summilux lens. Even when the lighting isn’t good it’s still possible to get an half decent image by converting to black & white.
Saturday, 1 February 2025: I was happy with how the image “Reflecting On Bygone Days” (below) turned out and so decided to have a go with two more; The Building Inspector and The Undertaker.
Sunday, 26 January 2025: “Three Beauties from Vilnius”, an image of a statue I took years ago in Lithuania; came across it the other day and decided to ‘play’ with it in Photoshop. Taken with the M9 and 35mm Summicron.
Thursday, 16 January 2025: “Reflecting On Bygone Days”: Two images put together to create this photo. The background was taken at the Mining Museum in Lancashire, using the M10 Monochrom and 35mm Summicron lens; and the gentleman at the Black Country Museum in the Midlands, with the Leica SL (601) and 24-90mm Vario-Elmarit lens.
Friday, 10 January 2025: despite the extremely cold weather I had a walk in the village to see the extent of the flooding. Taken with the Leica M11-P and 50mm Summicron lens.
Monday, 30 December 2024: as has become an annual event, a couple of members of the Leica Forum arranged a meeting in London between Christmas and New Year. This year ten of us met up in a pub, had a drink before a walk round and then a meal. These are a couple of images I took with the M10-R and 35mm Summicron lens.
Saturday, 28 December 2024: delighted that the Leica Society decided to use one of my photo’s on the cover of the Winter Edition of the magazine and to include an article I wrote about the Burnham Market International Horse Trials.
Sunday, 22 December 2024: processed this print, the original image being taken back in September with the Leica SL2 and 24-90mm Vario-Elmarit lens. The location was on the North Norfolk Coast and to make the print minimalist I had to remove two other boats, some people on the far bank and to add mist in order to create some atmosphere.
