In October I was back in Iceland, again with Photovenures, but this time sharing the driving of one of the three 4×4 vehicles which were rented for the trip. Last year we did the Grand Circle in a clockwise direction, whereas this year we went anticlockwise meaning we saw the trees, waterfalls and churches from the other side.
As usual I took a notebook, meaning to write down the places and dates we visited but as usual I never used it. People who follow this website will be well familiar that this is my one big failing. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the snaps I took and hopefully they will give you an idea of what Iceland has to offer.
As this was my third visit there are an additional two pages (go into the Photo Library to select) also covering Iceland which may be of interest.
Equipment: I took the two Leica SL2 bodies with the 16-35mm, 24-90mm and 90-280mm SL Zoom lenses. After returning from last year’s visit I said that if I went again I wouldn’t take the 90-280mm because of the bulk. I was determined not to take it, but at the last minute added it to the kit and although I only took a couple of images with it, am glad I did. If there’s a next time I’ll certainly leave it at home.
Conclusion: Once again I thoroughly enjoyed the trip as it was great sharing the experience with other like minded photographers, something I hadn’t done until last year. We were really lucky with the weather and fortunately only had one day when we were unable to take any photo’s. As the name suggests, you don’t go to Iceland for the weather.
